® How performance as a language (in its broadest sense) can be a means to communicate the experiences of given community or individual
® Every time the experience is passed on, reproduced and re-contextualised though subsequent mediums (documentation, dramatisation, translation, adaptation), the original message is diluted and its meaning is altered through interpretation; based upon the interpreter’s subjective and ideological outlook
® Translations, by default, make alterations to the exact meaning of words; alterations based upon one’s interpretation of language and how they then express this alteration in their own form of language
® Verbatim and Documentary Theatre are examples of where, in an albeit Eurocentric context, expressions of experiences are documented and dramatised for the stage, with potential subsequent translations and adaptations for new contexts and audiences.
