File sharing utility

One thing that is a recurring issue with a multi-location course such as MAIPR is getting large files (video clips usually) from one place to another. A free and easy-to-use solution is a service called dropbox
Details here: https://www.dropbox.com/features
In short you get 2gb of space that you can divide into folders made available to whoever you chose. (and if you want a bit more space, reply to this post as if I invite you as an existing user we both get an additional 250mb of space free)

Beyond Powerpoint - Prezi

Having just returned from summerschool and seen how MAIPR students presented their dissertations on posters and wishing there was something closer to the spatial arrangement of ideas than powerpoint offers reminded me of a web-based programme that goes some way to addressing this. It's called Prezi and you can find it here - http://prezi.com/index/
Students/Teachers get a special (free) licence that gives you more storage space and the ability to build your presentation offline. Am hoping to use it for a presentation in a week's time so I'll report back on how it goes.
